Cajun Beef Sandwich

This is a Cajun-inspired take on the traditional Philly Cheese steak! I combined the flavors of peppers and onions with ground beef and some beautiful spices to make this quick and easy sandwich! I topped it off with some provolone cheese and mayonnaise for some added flavor! Serve this with some homemade fries and you'll have a filling and delicious meal the whole family will love!

These homemade fries are a perfect side for the sandwich! Just sprinkle them with some dried parsley, paprika, and garlic powder!

Add mushrooms and jalapenos to this sandwich for added flavors and textures!

I was roaming around my kitchen without a clue of what to cook and I didn't feel like taking a trip to the grocery store. So I decided to put some ground beef to use and create a sandwich that is a mix between a Philly Cheese steak and a sloppy Joe (but without the mess)! I pulled out some bell peppers, onions, and savory seasonings to make the Cajun filling for the sandwich!

I topped it off with a simple layer of provolone cheese and mayonnaise, but you can add any flavor cheese or condiment of your liking!

Prep Time: 10 minutes Serves: 4 People

Cook Time: 20 minutes

Total Time: 30 minutes

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 Tbsp. Vegetable Cooking Oil

  • 1 Yellow Onion, chopped

  • 1/2 Green Bell Pepper, chopped

  • 1/2 Red Bell Pepper, chopped

  • 2 Tbsp. Mild Banana Peppers, chopped

  • 1 lb. Lean Ground Beef

  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. Cajun Seasoning

  • 1 tsp. Garlic Powder

  • 1 tsp. Salt

  • 1/2 tsp. Black Pepper

  • 1/2 tsp. Onion Powder

  • Sandwich Bread

  • Provolone Cheese

  • Mayonnaise

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. In a large skillet, heat the cooking oil over medium-high heat.

  2. Add in the onion, green pepper, red pepper, and banana peppers and cook for about 5-6 minutes until vegetables are tender.

  3. Add in the ground beef and continue to break it apart while it cooks, getting rid of any big chunks.

  4. Sprinkle in the Cajun seasoning, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and onion powder. Stir evenly.

  5. Cook for another 15 minutes until the meat is cooked through and there is no moisture in the skillet (from the beef).

  6. Toast the bread and then layer it with mayonnaise.

  7. Top it with the beef mixture and add on the cheese while the mix is still hot so that it melts.

  8. Enjoy with a side of fries!
