Sugar Coated Donut Holes

Have you ever craved donuts, or the little munchkin donut holes from Dunkin' Donuts? Well guess what, you won't have to leave your house in the mornings any more to try and get to the freshest ones on the shelf. You can make these yummy sugar and cinnamon coated donuts right in your home with just 4 simple ingredients! They took me a total of 30 minutes to prepare, fry, coat, and fill! They were extremely delicious served with hot fudge and strawberry preserves. You have to try these!

You can fill these fluffy, sugary bites with the fudge and preserves, or you can use them as dipping sauces!

Roll the donut holes in the cinnamon and sugar mix immediately after frying so that it sticks on easily without a mess!

I have been craving donuts for a minute now, but I just can't seem to find a shop that sells donuts good enough to satisfy that craving! I gave up and decided to make my own with this quick and simple recipe. Now I wouldn't consider them gourmet donuts, but they are still delicious enough to have on the table with friends as an evening dessert!

I chose hot fudge and strawberry preserves as my filling options because they are the complete opposite yet very common flavors that people like. However, the list is endless with what you can use to fill these donut holes. You can use lemon curd, caramel, Nutella, orange jam, you name it! It all will taste delicious because the base of the dish is very simple. You can even choose to skip on the sugar and add a glaze on top! Make these how you want to satisfy YOUR cravings!

Prep Time: 10 minutes Yields: 32 Donut Holes

Cook Time: 20 minutes

Total Time: 30 minutes

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 Roll of Flaky biscuits, 8 count

  • 2-3 cups Vegetable Oil

  • 1 cup Sugar

  • 1 tsp. Cinnamon

  • Strawberry Preserves, optional

  • Hot Fudge, optional

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Heat 2 to 3 cups of Vegetable oil in a deep pot over medium heat.

  2. Take each biscuit, and flatten it lightly. Cut the circle of dough halfway horizontally and halfway vertically to give you 4 triangles.

  3. Roll Each triangle into a ball. Set aside.

  4. Repeat with the rest of the uncooked biscuits.

  5. In a flat plate, mix the sugar and cinnamon together. Set aside.

  6. Add 2 to 3 donut holes at a time to the oil, frying them on each side for about 8-10 seconds. You want them to be a light brown on the outside. I suggest testing one dough in the beginning to make sure the oil is not too hot or too cool. Once that first one has cooked, you can cut it open to see if the time given has allowed the dough to cook through.

  7. Repeat the process with the rest of the dough balls.

  8. After each batch, roll the fried donut holes in the cinnamon and sugar. Set them in a plate.

  9. Continue this process until all of the donuts are fried and rolled in sugar.

  10. Fill the holes, or dip them in your favorite sauce.

  11. Enjoy Immediately!
