Soft Baked Chocolate Cobbler

This one is for all my chocolate lovers who are looking for something just a little bit different than your average cake or brownie. This chocolate cobbler is extremely easy to make. It can be served warm or cold, but I love serving it right out of the oven and topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a caramel drizzle. It's literally a slice from heaven.

For triple the chocolate, add some chocolate chips or Hershey chocolate chunks on top!

This is best served right away so that the dessert is still warm, but the ice cream is still a bit frozen.

I'm not a big chocolate fan, but when I crave it, I need something very chocolate-y and satisfying. This chocolate cobbler is very light, but because we are using cocoa powder, we're really getting that pure chocolate taste to get a delicious dessert.

This can even be used at a small get together and you can use the cobbler as a base for a "Make Your Own" Chocolate Cobbler Sundae. Any toppings would be absolutely delicious. Like something fruity? Add strawberries. Want something minty? Add some peppermint! Enjoy it however you want!

Prep Time: 10 minutes Serves: 8 People

Cook Time: 40 minutes

Total Time: 50 minutes

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup Flour

  • 1 tsp. Baking Powder

  • 1/4 tsp. Salt

  • 3/4 cup Sugar

  • 2 Tbsp. Cocoa Powder

  • 1/2 cup milk

  • 3 Tbsp. Butter, melted

  • 1 tsp. Vanilla

  • 1/2 cup Sugar (for topping)

  • 1/2 cup Brown Sugar, packed (for topping)

  • 1/4 cup Cocoa Powder (for topping)

  • 1/4 cup Semi-sweet Chocolate Chips

  • 1 1/2 cups Hot Water

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

  2. Grease a 9x13 glass baking dish. (If you want a thicker cobbler, make it in an 8x11 dish) Set aside.

  3. In a large bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, cocoa powder, milk, butter, and vanilla until combined evenly.

  4. Spread into the greased baking dish.

  5. In a medium bowl, mix the sugar, brown sugar, and cocoa powder for the toppings. You should get a crumble. Sprinkle that on top of the mixture in the dish.

  6. Add in the chocolate chips all over the dish. (They will melt and sink into the cobbler so don't worry about mixing)

  7. Very carefully, pour the water all over the cobbler. Slowly pour this in so that the topping and chocolate chips don't move everywhere.

  8. Bake for 40 minutes.

  9. Serve hot or cold.

  10. Top with your favorite ice cream or enjoy as is!
