If you're from the St. Louis area, then you know about the slice of heaven we call Gooey Butter Cake! This sweet dessert melts right in your mouth and has such a light yet buttery texture! It's made of two separate layers that combine into perfection with each bite you take! You can top it off with some powdered sugar, whipped cream, or fresh strawberries for added sweetness or flavor!
Once the cake was cooled and at room temperature, I sliced and dusted it with powdered sugar!
To make this look more presentable, I sliced up fresh strawberries into roses for decoration!
If you come to the Lou and don't get a taste of Gooey Butter Cake, then your trip was definitely not complete! This dessert is such a staple that there are restaurants dedicated to selling it here. The texture is moist and very soft and although everyone makes it slightly different, it's always a hit!
I have recreated this dessert in a simpler way with just a few ingredients and few steps! At the end you can decorate and top this dessert with various things like whipped cream, strawberries, shaved chocolate, and powdered sugar. No matter how you choose to eat it, it's going to be great!
