Cinnamon Apple Crisp

Updated: Nov 3, 2019

Pumpkin desserts can be a little overrated for me during the fall season. I am all for a delicious apple flavored recipe though! The flavors are soft and sweet, usually with that hint of spice! If you have way too many apples in your fridge, then this dessert is a perfect way to put them to use! It's a delicious layering of granny smith and red delicious apples mixed with cinnamon, brown sugar, and a cake mix and oats crumble! Get a feel for Autumn and whip up this dessert for you and your friends!

This dessert is best served warm and with a scoop of vanilla ice cream! With the ice cream melting on the apple crisp and all of the flavors combining, you get two desserts in one!

The caramel drizzle on the plate under the dessert adds a salty touch and gives a caramel taffy apple vibe to the dish!

You guys have now heard me say countless times that I love apple desserts in the Fall. It's the prime season for apples and they just taste so good when they are cooked into different dishes! This apple cobbler has been made many times already this season and let's just say there might even be a few more times after this.

Picking the right kind of apple to bake is very important. There are specific apples that work much better in recipes than others. Some apples that I recommend using when you are baking things like this apple crisp or an apple pie are Braeburn, Granny Smith, Honeycrisps, Mutsu, and the one I used which is the Golden Delicious. All of these hold their shape fairly well and bake perfectly.

One of my favorite things about this dish is how it makes my house smell, you guys. While it bakes to perfection, it lets off the aroma of Fall, with a cinnamon apple scent mixed with a hint of maple. You're getting a candle and a dessert all in one!
